Ideal Robots.txt for WordPress

As I was adding a new blog to my Google Dashboard I noticed I had an error at Free Adult WordPress Themes.

The error text is:
Network unreachable: robots.txt unreachable
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

I must admit I have never used robots.txt files on my WordPress installs. But not anymore. I know better. I know why you use a Robot text file and I will do a post later about why you do robot.txt and why. But for now I cheated I did a bit of Googling and found Ideal Robots.txt file for wordpress website Digital Point is not a forum I am a member of but it is very respected in my circles. I am not sure that including a robot.txt file is going to solve my problem but as with an problem solving exercise you fix what you know is wrong first.

To create and use a robot.txt file you HAVE TO use a text editor. Word is not a text editor, it is a word processing application. Notepad, TextPad are text editors. A word processing application puts in invisible formating. VERY BAD. Text editors are text only, no formating.
Open your text editor and cut and paste the files content from Here into your text editor. Change the line that points at your sitemap, save as robots.txt and upload. That is all you have to do.

Wish me luck, if things work right I will fix my problems with a robots.txt file.

WP Plugin and Clickable Background Images…

Greetings,

I have two great tidbits from a couple of associates. Ladies first.

I posted a list at AWG of my default WP Plugin list.

6. Samsarin PHP Widget - This allows me to include php code in a widget in the sidebar.
7. Ultimate Google Analytics - I believe everybody ought to have an analytics account.
8. WordPress Mobile Edition - Makes your blog accessible to more people.

Tiani has suggested RSS Footer. I have added it to my default install list. If anyone in the reading audience has a suggestion for a plugin they like and use regular please consider leaving the info in a coment.

As to the Clickable Background image. Bakdoor is another associate from Adult Webmaster Group. Bakdoor posted a request for how to make a background image clickable. My first thought was there is no way to do this, everybody knows that. I did some Googling and came up with three sites that claimed to have the answer and posted them. Bakdoor was good enough to be the guinea pig and found one of the links was dead on. Clickable Background Images Via CSS is the location of the original article. Text Descriptions - Time Saver - Money Maker

Text Descriptions provided by the sponsor are one of the things most people do not ask about when they are looking for a sponsor. For me it is a major factor and if I know a sponsor has good text descriptions that is in itself a very good reason to join.

Text Descriptions are a major time saver and money maker. I like to put a bit of text under ad banners and text descriptions provide that. Since I like to make a blog specific to a paysite, description text is a major time saver. It already has the keywords specific to the paysite I am promoting on the blog. I can use the description text to write the description metatags and to pick keywords for the keyword metatag from. Bit of caution. Take a moment to do a bit of rewrite of the text used to for the description metatag. I generally start by getting cutting and pasting the amount of text I need for a description metatag, into word (automatic spell checking) and editing the text so I have twice the text needed and cut and paste the part I want to use into the correct form for the blog.

Text Descriptions are fantastic if you use a rewrite engine with a blog posting solution like RSS2Anywhere or Blog Automater. You can use the text descriptions to augment the text in the post and change keywords so the text is unique for each post. Even with Gallery Scraper you can quickly cut and paste a bit of extra text into each post.

Text Descriptions can be a life save if you are not good at writing or English is not your first language the text descriptions provide you with well written text that serves all the purposes above and keeps you looking professional and on an even footing with native speakers and those of us who love to write. If text flows it is seen without standing out, but if it is grammatically incorrect or full of typos, it stands out and distracts the porn surfer and could easily cost you a sale. And I for one can not afford to make less money.

What got me to write this article is I post a blurb at Unique Porn Sponsor Tools when I find a sponsor who has good text descriptions and the last one I found was Actual Cash - Text Descriptions.

All You Need to Make Money is…

Not everybody that goes into the Adult Porn Website business is going to make it. 99% will without question fail. So, why spend hundreds of dollars just to find out you are not going to make it. Plus the things you will probably buy have zero resale value.

To get started you really do not need to purchase anything, nothing, not a thing. You do need:

* A Sponsor - I am not going into how to pick a sponsor right now, that is an article in itself.

* Hosting - Thumblogger is a great place to start.

* Image Hosting - If you go with Thumblogger you can use ImageTurtle. I still use ImageTurtle for my Thumblogs.

* Knowledge of HTML - BEFORE you begin. Very few Adult Webmasters will spend time on a wannabe who does not know html. Why? Easy, because there is SO, SO much to learn that adding html to the list of things to learn makes no sense.

* Text editor - Text Pad is the recommended text editor. A text editor is an editor that does not add hidden characters to the document being created. I LOVE TEXT PAD!!! Started using it when I was taking a PERL class in college.

* FireFox and Internet Explorer Browsers - Just one of them is not enough, both are a must for a Professional Adult Webmaster. All sites/blogs should be looked at in both.

* FTP program - I use FireFTP as my primary FTP software. Another FTP program I really like is FileZilla.

* Image Editor - There are two free image editing programs I have seen recommended. Gimp and Irfanview Gimp is the standard and has been for years. GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. I have had several recommendations for Irfanview. Since they are both free you can try them both and go with the one that best suits your needs.

* Knowledge of copyright and 2257 regs - DO NOT use porn content that you DID NOT get from a sponsor, I have yet to understand “pulling images off the web”, that is asking for trouble, and all the actual Adult Webmasters I know will treat you like a leper, to include me. And if you are US based you need to understand 2257, a good place to start is Free Speech Coalition. ONLY, ONLY a lawyer can give you advise that is valid.

GOTD (Gallery of the Day) Tips and Suggestions.

I have Porn Picture, Movie, Video, Gallery of the day. I have started posting to the blog on a semi regular basis. I expect to post at least 3 times a week from now on. The post I did today Bondage Bank - GOTD (Gallery of the Day) is demos of Bondage Bank GOTD offering. AND some excellent tips on how to do the linking. The article talks only about linking to a GOTD if you only have a GOTD hyperlink. I have other sponsors that offer anchor text suggestions. One sponsor I use offers randomly displayed linking text and pics through javascript. As time passes I will post demos of those too.
