Cross Linking With Other Blogs…

May 20th, 2008 | by Randy |

Recently there was a post at AWG about cross linking blogs, specifically trading links.

First, I cross link all my blogs by niche. If you only have 10 blogs cross link them all regardless of niche. As your collection of blogs grows I suggest you start focusing on specific niches so you can do better filtering into subniches. I think it is a mistake to have 100 blogs and cross link all 100 to each other. I draw the line at 25 other blog links per blog normally. You can do 35, 45, or how ever many addition blog links you prefer per blog, I like 25, I tend to keep my links per blog low. Using Gay as an example, I have 15 gay blogs. I crosslink all them and add 10 nongay blog links from my nongay blog collection. If you bounce from one gay blog to the other on all 15, you see the 15 gay blogs and up to 150 links to other blogs I own. The 10 nongay blogs are there for filtering, as a way out if you are not really into gay, but were curious what was on the blog. The 10 nongay links on each gay blog blogs represent at least 5 other niches.

Eample of sidebar listing of my blogs: All 15 of my Gay blogs crosslinked and 10 random others to help their ranking and give the surfer a way out. The specific numbers you use is up to you. Mine always vary.

Gay Blog1
Gay Blog2
Gay Blog3
Gay Blog4
Gay Blog5
Gay Blog6
Gay Blog7
Gay Blog8
Gay Blog9
Gay Blog10
Gay Blog11
Gay Blog12
Gay Blog13
Gay Blog14
Gay Blog15
Black Blog
Teen Blog
Bondage Blog
Mature Blog
Lesbian Blog
Big Tits Blog
Nylon Blog
Interracial Blog
Midget Blog
Pregnant Blog

When trading links you want to trade with the same niche as your blog but not the same subniche. This is the point that was not gotten to at AWG. I would not trade “Cute Teen Toes” with another foot site. I would trade with a teen blog, a stockings blog, a pantyhose blog. But not one that dealt specifically with foot fetish. If I was trading links for my “Big Mature Tits” blog, I would not trade with another mature tits blog. I would trade with mature blowjobs, possible teen tits, mature anal, breast bondage.

If the surfer is interested in what you, have but not your specific offering you are presenting, you want them to go to the sponsor to look for more content not a link in the side bar that has the same keywords as the blog they are on. Surfers are normally looking for free porn and given the chose between a sponsors link and a link in the sidebar for the same content I would think a link in the sidebar would get more clicks than the one to the sponsor. Surfers are not stupid and if they do not find very specifically what they want, they need to click to the sponsor first.

Hope this helps you…

Excellent article that covers exactly what is needed when using linking to filter your traffic into a sub-niche that THEY want to be in. Excellent!
